Jonathan A. Flatow

Chief Executive Officer

Jonathan brings more than 23 years of executive management experience to Avention.  Prior to his current role, Jonathan held several executive positions at Greenfield Online, a consumer opinion data collection and comparison shopping company,  between 1999 and 2009, including Secretary, General Counsel and Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Operating Officer.

Jonathan was an integral part of the team that drove Greenfield’s 2004 IPO, and its subsequent sale to Microsoft four years later.  In 2009, Microsoft sold the online data collection unit of Greenfield to ToLuna PLC.  Jonathan served as Special Advisor to ToLuna’s CEO and as a senior member of the ToLuna integration committee culminating in the successful integration of the two companies in 2010.

Prior to joining Greenfield Online, Jonathan was a partner in the law firm of Wake, See, Dimes & Bryniczka.  He joined the firm in 1986 as an associate.

Jonathan holds a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College and a J.D. from Pace University School of Law.

Robert E. Bies

Chief Financial Officer

Bob, Chief Financial Officer of Avention, is an entrepreneurial financial executive with more than 28 years of progressive finance experience.  Bob has raised more than $800M in private and public equity and debt facility funding since 1997.  He has served as Avention’s CFO since 2012, as well as CFO of Cannondale Holdings, Inc., a private equity firm formed to acquire data-enabled information services firms.

In 1999, Bob joined Greenfield Online as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  He managed the company’s 2004 IPO, and the company’s acquisitions and merger of five companies within a six-month period in 2005.  Bob was part of the team that was instrumental in initiating and executing the process that culminated in the 2008 sale of Greenfield Online to Microsoft.

Between 1997 and 1999, Bob served as Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer of venture-backed JGI, Inc., an ERP systems integrator serving the high-growth mid market.  Prior to JGI, Bob held the roles of Senior Vice President and General Manager of Bionaire USA, a publicly traded environmental air products company.

Bob has held several executive finance positions in a range of business and consumer firms, including Faberge/Elizabeth Arden and Deloitte’s audit advisory division.

Bob earned a B.S. summa cum laude from Long Island University and an M.B.A. from Hofstra University.  Bob is a non-practicing certified public accountant licensed in New York.

Hank Weghorst

Chief Technology Officer

A veteran of many high-tech start-ups, Hank specializes in creating and growing business software companies.  Since the 1990’s, Hank has founded a number of venture-backed companies, serving in CEO and executive advisory capacities.  Under his direction, these companies received more than $100M in start-up and follow-on financing, with several culminating in successful IPOs and acquisitions.

Hank’s start-ups, focusing primarily on enterprise software for communications, strategic planning, data and analytics,  include Media Logic, iChat, Ventix Systems, Question Technologies, Troux Technologies, and most recently, x8 Data Company.

Hank has focused his expertise on business productivity software, with an emphasis on enterprise-level deployments for communications, strategic planning, data and analytics.

Hank currently serves as an executive advisor to technology start-ups as well as several university business school advisory committees.  Hank’s publishing credits include technology texts and articles in numerous industry periodicals.  He also has been awarded multiple technology patents.

Hank holds a B.E.D. from Texas A&M University, and an M.S. from Cornell University.

Colleen Honan

Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Services

In her current role, Colleen is responsible for the company’s worldwide sales initiatives, including direct, channel, go-to-market and alliances strategies.  Colleen rose through the ranks at Avention, consistently meeting revenue and new business goals.

In addition to her executive sales responsibilities, Colleen frequently speaks at conferences about successful sales processes and sales organization structures.

Prior to joining Avention, Colleen held customer service positions at Thomson Financial Networks.

Colleen earned a B.S. degree from Merrimack College.

James Rogers

Chief Marketing Officer

James is responsible for Avention’s worldwide marketing programs, including branding, product marketing, and corporate marketing.

James joined Avention from Walters Kluwer, where he led marketing for the SMBS division of CT Corporation.  Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Marketing for the Hoover’s subsidiary of Dun & Bradstreet, helping to reestablish Hoover’s double-digit growth.  James’ marketing vision and strategy was instrumental in the 2010 launch of D&B360, the company’s most strategic launch in more than a decade.

Prior to Hoover’s, James served for more than five years in leadership product and marketing roles at a range of technology start-ups, including Gravitant, where was vice president of sales and marketing, he lead the company into new revenue areas.  At Blazent, an IT outsourcing governance company,  James set the strategic direction, and ran marketing, product planning and engineering.  Prior to Blazent, at Troux Technologies James held the role of Chief Marketing Officer, leading product strategy and global marketing programs which contributed to securing leader status in Gartner’s influential Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture.   James previous executive marketing roles also include leading product and marketing strategies for several large service management software companies, including Remedy, Peregrine Systems, Merant and Serena Software.

James holds a B.A. from the California State University, Sacramento.

Brad Palmer

Vice President, Product Engineering

In his role at Avention, Brad is responsible for product development and the technology infrastructure that supports the Avention product line and LiveContent platform.

In prior roles at Avention, Brad has worked in customer support, client services and engineering.

Brad earned a B.A. and Master’s degree from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.
